We ate dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings last night ... not the one in Chesterfield, nor the one downtown (if you mean Detroit) - neither of them would have done the trick. We ate at the one in Mount Clemens (that downtown). The others did not have what we were looking for!

What, you may be wondering, did the BW's in downtown Mount Clemens have that the others did not? I'm glad you asked. They were donating 10% of their proceeds to the Special Olympics. So we intentionally chose to eat there last night ... and, I'm thinking, if this is an annual thing with them, it may well become an annual thing for us, also.

We already have been supporting the Special Olympics for years by helping to sponsor our sons in the Polar Plunge. It's coming up the end of this month. That will mean two Special Olympics events this month ... just another indicator of why February is the most special month of all!

Speaking of being special, I hope you know how special you are as a baptized child of God. "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." (1 Peter 2.9-10)

On the day of your baptism, God chose you to be his own. And, since God does not change, you are his forever (no need to be baptized again after the first time). Talk about security! Talk about love! Talk about BEING SPECIAL! We are his people, forever. And, as often as we fail him, disregard him or ignore him, he remains constant in his mercy. "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endures forever." (1 Chronicles 16.34)

Now, I don't want this to give you too big of a head, but I do want you to know that you are special - today and every day ... and that in your 'specialness' you are called to "declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light" ... the one who makes and keeps you special forever. Special gifts! Special life! Special people we are ... and will be forever.
